Cultural studies: the consumer society

Synopsis The subject is concerned with the formation of ideas, values and customs expressed in everyday life. Topics include fashions, consumerism, entertainments, privacy, individualism, tourism, etc. Of particular interest will be the relationship between modernity and definitions of personal identity.

Assessment Written (6000 words, 2 pieces of work): 50% each
