Romanticism and revolution

Synopsis The aim of this subject is to introduce students to some of the
key issues raised by romanticism, to place these firmly in their historical
context, and to trace their evolution. In particular, we shall consider visions
of social reform and individual liberation, the problematic position of women
and the impact of major romantic traditions in the New World.
Assessment Tutorial paper and participation (1000 words): 20% + Essay
(1500 words): 30% + Essay (3000 words): 50%
