Synopsis

This unit provides students with information on the roles of the neuropsychologist within the health setting, the assessment techniques commonly used by neuropsychologists, common neuropsychological syndromes, and the process of rehabilitation for those with neuropsychological impairment.

Outcomes

On completion of the course students should:

have an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the brain and be able to apply this knowledge to understanding brain behaviour relationships;
have acquired expertise using a hypothesis testing approach for basic neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis and be able to apply this knowledge to a variety of populations.
have a understanding of key neuropsychological syndromes that are regularly encountered in clinical practice
have a greater understanding of how to interpret neuropsychological reports and apply recommendations
