The unit is linked to the subject of climatology which is the science that seeks to describe and explain the nature of climate, why it differs from place to place, and how it relates to other elements of the natural environment and to human activities.

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. A unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week.
