This specialisation will qualify you to teach children and adolescents aged five to 18 years of age in primary and secondary schools from Foundation to Year 12. You will actively engage with contemporary theories, concepts and practices of primary and secondary education, developing inclusive teaching and learning practices to meet a diversity of cognitive, social and emotional needs and building a repertoire of strategies to manage children's and adolescents' learning in classroom settings. All the key elements of the primary curriculum including English and literacies, mathematics, arts, humanities and social education, science, and health and physical education will be included. In addition, you will develop specialist expertise in curriculum and pedagogy in one secondary subject area such as English, mathematics, the sciences, history, social education, languages, the arts, business, health and physical education, or applied/vocational learning.
Units are 6 credit points unless otherwise stated.
The professional experience units below require 60 days of professional experience, in four blocks of 15 days, completed in primary school settings.
