Notes
This Master of Teaching specialisation qualifies graduates to teach children from birth to eight years of age in childcare, kindergartens and preschools, and to support children's transition to school. Students develop an understanding of learning at the heart of teaching and acquire a perspective of teaching as the power to change. Students actively engage with contemporary theories, concepts and practices of early years education. They learn about the range of local and international early years services and social/cultural contexts of early years provision for children aged birth to eight years, and develop skills to work with families and communities. Students learn how inclusive practices meet a diversity of children's needs and build a repertoire of strategies to manage children's learning. Professional understanding and skills are extended through 60 days of supervised professional experience, and students learn to generate and reflect on evidence to evaluate their practice and build professional judgement. This specialisation prepares students to become effective and proactive leaders and educators in early years education.
