This specialisation is designed for those wanting to extend their interest and deepen their knowledge and practice of teaching and learning in schools, tertiary education, workplaces and in communities. Taking units within this specialisation will deepen the knowledge and expertise of learning professionals across contexts in:
There are four tiers that make up the Master of Education program. Student learning is sequenced from broad to deep across the four tiers:
(1.) Orientation to education tier orients those who come into the program without previous qualifications in education or work experience in education-related work.
(2.) Key constructs in education tier introduces students to some key theoretical frames and ideas within them, across a broad theme. It shows their expression and engagement in research conducted on this theme.
(3.) Enhanced professional learning tier deepens students' knowledge of particular ideas, specialist areas and contexts.
(4.) Professional inquiry tier supports students to extend their scholarly work through their contribution to public intellectual debate or by developing new knowledge in an area of their interest.
Students choose two or three enhanced professional learning units from the specific selection listed below in order to satisfy the requirements of the expert teaching practice specialisation:
