Synopsis
The unit examines the components of demographic change and their social consequences, in particular:
- trends in fertility and their implications for population ageing,
- death and disease in Australia,
- Australian immigration policy and its implications for the education and labour markets, and
- implications of population growth for the natural environment and urban settlements in Australia.
Assessment
Written work: 90%
Tutorial participation and presentation: 10%
