SynopsisThis unit explores the frontiers of our understanding of cardiovascular physiology in health and disease. The roles of the nervous system, hormonal and metabolic factors and of the kidney are examined, with an emphasis on regulatory mechanisms in blood pressure control and hypertension. Current cutting-edge research underpins all aspects of the course and the emphasis is on assisted self directed learning and project based learning. Assessment
In-semester assessment will consist of oral presentations and 2000 word reports on projects or assignments and a mid-semester assessment: 50% Chief examiner(s)
