SynopsisElectrical and optical properties of materials - dielectrics, ferroelectrics, piezoelectrics, superconductors and optical fibres; magnetic properties - microscopic origin of magnetism, hard and soft magnets, domains, anisotropy, magnet fabrication and applications; nanodevices which rely on the preceding properties, experimental techniques. ObjectivesTo understand the science and technology governing the important properties and uses of the major electrical, optical and magnetic materials and the development of associated nanotechnological devices.
