Synopsis

This unit examines the relationship between government and business with a focus on contemporary issues. Key topics include: international paradigms in business/government relations; regulation; and the management of the employment relationship.

Objectives

The learning goals associated with this unit are to:

  1. describe and compare the range and variety of interactions between governments and businesses
  2. identify and analyse institutions and processes that support markets and regulate business activity
  3. explain the significance of the blurring of the boundaries between private, public and community sectors clarify the means by which the employment relationship is regulated in contemporary Australia.

Assessment

Within semester assessment: 40%
Examination (3 hours): 60%
