SynopsisThis unit is an introduction to the area of regulatory studies. It examines the wide ranging conceptual nature of regulation, its history and the justifications for control, through regulation of both state and non-state origin. It articulates a range of useful constructs for regulatory activities and provides frameworks for better understanding regulatory mechanisms, processes for regulatory development, review and reform, and regulatory institutions.
