Synopsis

Students will undertake a supervised research project. Students will carry out a research project and present the results of their study in both written and oral form. Information about research projects will be available from the course coordinator towards the end of the preceding semester.

Objectives

After completing this unit students will have demonstrated a high level of understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects in the research area of food science and technology, including to:

  1. understand the processes involved to design, develop and implement a supervised research project;
  2. execute and critically analyse research;
  3. be proficient in the use of computer data systems;
  4. be able to write and present scientific work in a potentially publishable way;
  5. demonstrate communication skills in oral and written presentations to scientists;
  6. have gained technical skills appropriate to their area of study;
  7. undertake relevant research procedures and techniques that are essential for the satisfactory completion and reporting of a research project;
  8. be prepared for higher studies.

Thesis: 93%
Presentation: 7%
