Notes Previously coded HPL4510 SynopsisThis unit introduces students to different modes of historical and political writing. It examines the rationale behind the various modes of writing and relevance these writing have to historical and political subjects. It examines the how different modes of writing can be evaluated. Students studying this unit will be encouraged to apply their knowledge and understanding of the various modes of historical and political writing to their own particular research interest. ObjectivesAt the completion of the unit students will be expected to have:1) demonstrated an understanding of issues and processes that shape research writing;2) used a variety of theoretical and conceptual frameworks to analyse and critically evaluate the way different modes of historical and political research writing have impacted on scholarly debate;3) developed skills in oral and written presentation in discussing modes of research writing; 4) applied knowledge and theoretical understandings of research writing modes to research projects and assignments.
