Notes Previously coded EIL4301 SynopsisThis unit will provide students with the opportunity to extend their study of the contextual and cultural influences that affect meaning structures and perception in English. Through an examination of prescribed texts the unit offers an analysis of the relationship of language and worldview, particularly looking at the creation of contextual identities through the cultural schemas of multilingual speakers of English. Specific focus will be given to the perceptual, ideological and social implications of English as an international language and its role in the creation of a multilingual identity. Objectives
