The study of ensembles, tuning systems and musical structure and form. Aurally-based performance skills on the gamelan. ObjectivesStudents completing this unit should have a basic knowledge of the main principles, concepts and performance techniques of Javanese and Balinese gamelan music, dance and theatre terminology, and the cultural, historical and socio-political contexts of gamelan performing arts.
