Description

Students intending to enter honours in film and television Studies must have completed a major in that discipline or an interdisciplinary program such as visual culture. Students completing a visual culture major are encouraged to consult as early as possible with the fourth-year honours coordinator in planning their major sequence.

Students are required to complete 48 points of study comprising a thesis and two coursework units. Students are also required to attend a short methodology course.

Units

Thesis

Students complete the following two units:

  • ATS4773 Film and television minor thesis part 1
  • ATS4774 Film and television minor thesis part 2

Coursework units

Students complete the following two units:

  • ATS4279 Historical film theory and criticism
  • ATS4280 Contemporary film theory and criticism
  • ATS4775 Special reading course (Film and television studies)
  • a maximum of 12 points at forth-year level from another discipline and/or institution with the permission of the film and television studies honours coordinator.
