SynopsisThe major themes of study are nervous and endocrine control and regulation of body functions, maintenance systems of the body, and reproduction and early development. The unit develops further the critical evaluation of evidence and an awareness of the changing nature of knowledge in the health sciences. Topics include the structure and functions of the nervous system; the integrative functions of the nervous system and the endocrine system; the structure and function of the urinary system; the structure and function of the digestive system; the structure and function of the reproductive system; and the major changes in embryonic development in early pregnancy.
