Course description

The course offers suitable pre-registration training in pharmacy and provides professional development opportunities for pharmacy graduates. Students explore elective units such as wound care, management and other issues relevant to the daily practice of pharmacy.

Course objectives

The major objectives of the course are to provide pharmacy graduates with the additional knowledge, skills and attributes required to facilitate progress towards registration as pharmacists, and to provide opportunities for pharmacy graduates to specialise in specific areas of practice by undertaking elective subjects

Entry requirements

The course is open to holders of a degree in pharmacy from Australia or New Zealand, or applicants with an overseas qualification approved by the Australian Pharmacy Examining Council. Non-Australian citizens must hold an occupational training visa.

Course structure

Students complete two core units in applied pharmacy practice (6 points each) and 12 points of elective units, including those drawn from the postgraduate studies in wound care and pharmacy management programs.

Assessment for pre-registration units is by seminar attendance, online discussion group participation, online quizzes, participation in National Prescribing Service activities, and submission of a record of Continuing Professional Development. Elective units are assessed by a variety of methods including assignments, online activities, and examinations.
