It provides the core competencies in epidemiology, biostatistics and clinical trials issues and articulates with the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology and then the Master of Clinical Epidemiology or can lead to the Master of Public Health. Course objectivesOn completion of this course, graduates should be able to: 1. Demonstrate an appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of different epidemiological study designs; 2. Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts and methods of biostatistics; 3. Use epidemiological and biostatistical principles to critically evaluate epidemiological research; 4. Identify the features of different clinical trial designs and understand their purpose; 5. Evaluate the different trial designs; 6. Demonstrate an understanding of the ethics of clinical trials; and 7. Demonstrate the skills in critical appraisal of a clinical trial. Course structureThe course comprises four core units.
