Units indexed by faculty Master of Commercial LawCourse code: 3373 * Course abbreviation: MasterComLaw * Total credit points required: 48 * 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time Study mode and course locationOn campus (Melbourne city) Course descriptionAn extensive range of units exist in this specialised masters degree, including commercial arbitration, competition law, international environmental law, corporate solvency and taxation law. The course focuses on new and developing areas of commercial law, as well as both domestic and international commercial law topics. Course structureThe course comprises eight 6-point units. Candidates must complete five units offered as part of the Master of Laws specialising in commercial law. The remaining three units may be taken from any units offered in the masters coursework program. Alternatively, students can elect one of the following options:
A candidate with a degree in a discipline other than law or a candidate with a law degree from a non-Australian jurisdiction will be required to complete the unit LAW7212 (Australian legal system), unless an exemption is granted. The units in the specialisation will be those which are specified from time to time by the faculty board on the recommendation of the Postgraduate Studies Committee of the faculty. A student may take up to four units approved for the Master of Business Law by the Faculty of Business and Economics when available, provided the course director is satisfied that the unit does not substantially duplicate a unit previously completed by the candidate.
