Units indexed by faculty Gippsland School of Information TechnologyThe Gippsland School of Information Technology is one of six schools within the Faculty of Information Technology and hosts one of the five research centres of the faculty in Multimedia and Intelligent Computing (MIC). The aim of this centre is to conduct and lead quality multidisciplinary research and to offer excellent research training opportunities for the most talented research students to be at the forefront of National Research Priority in Frontier Technologies for Building and Transforming Australian Industries. The school serves both the Gippsland region of the state of Victoria and the wider national and international community through the use of off-campus learning and innovative teaching technologies. In addition, in collaboration with an off-shore partner in Hong Kong, it delivers courses by partner supported off-campus learning. The school has a large number of PhD students and it enjoys a close partnership in research, development and research training with a number of IT&T companies, and a number of R&D projects funded by government funding bodies and commercial organisations such as the Australian Research Council and IBM TJ Watson Research Centre, Microsoft Research, Victorian Bioinformatics Consortium.
