Course description

This course enables a candidate to complete four of the six units required for advancement from associate membership of CPA Australia to CPA status. In 2007 the department will offer two of the three core segments and five electives.

Course structure

Students must complete a total of eight units from as follows:

(a) students must complete four units (24 points) from the following:

  • AFX5900 CPA reporting and professional practice
  • AFX5910 CPA assurance services and auditing
  • AFX5920 CPA corporate governance and accountability
  • AFX5930 CPA financial accounting
  • AFX5940 CPA financial risk management
  • AFX5960 CPA strategic management accounting
  • BTX5003 CPA taxation

(b) students must complete any other four 5000-level units (24 points) offered by the Department of Accounting and Finance including at least one unit (six points) from the following list:

  • AFF5070 Strategic policy and entrepreneurship
  • AFF5080 Business accounting II: strategic issues
  • AFF5090 Financial reporting and statement analysis

Articulation

Students who complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Accounting with at least a credit average may apply for admission to the Master of Business (Accounting).
