Clayton First semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: Function of components in electrical circuits. Transient and steady state response of first-order circuits. AC theory, phasors, impedance and admittance. Steady state response of AC circuits. Principles of designing operational amplifiers. Controlled rectifier systems, open-loop, closed-loop systems. Industrial rectifier. Digital logic circuits. Application and design of transducers and actuators. Electronic measuring system. The physical phenomena utilised in transducers. Photo detectors and fibre optics. Analog to digital converters.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Tests and laboratory work: 30%
Contact Hours: 24 lectures, 24 laboratory and practice class hours
