Synopsis: The content will advance understanding of collaborative learning principles and practice in relation to regional community development. This will be achieved through attention to practical engagement techniques for implementing a sequence of strategies relevant for groups moving from private to public areas of decision making.

Objectives: The learning objectives of this unit are: 1. To enhance understanding of rural/regional community development principles and practice 2. To demonstrate understanding and application of collaborative learning strategies and self-directed learning in relation to rural and regional community development 3. To demonstrate skills in facilitating group involvement in learning 4. To demonstrate capacity to work towards involvement of diverse sectors within the community 5. To demonstrate capacity to reflect on and evaluate their own skills in collaborative learning

Assessment: Two assignments (2,000 words each): 80% + articipation in Regional activities: 20%

Contact Hours: 2 hours per week

Prerequisites: Preferably EDF5602 Facilitating community development
