Synopsis: Clinical participation in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations of the head and neck, spine, thoracic and abdominal regions of patients recognising normal anatomy and common pathophysiological appearances.
Objectives: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. implement departmental safety protocols; 2. participate and assist in magnetic resonance examinations of the central nervous system, thoracic and abdominal regions and extremities on patients under strict supervision; 3. implement basic magnetic resonance imaging methods under close supervision; 4. apply basic quality assurance principles to magnetic resonance imaging systems; and 5. identify personal learning goals in respect to the initial development of professional expertise in magnetic resonance imaging.
Assessment: Clinical studies procedural record: 40% + clinical assessments: 2x 10%+ Professional development contract (4 case studies): 40%
