Synopsis: PTY2031 is an integrated unit based on five themes in the physiotherapy curriculum. Theme 1 Personal and Professional Development focuses on development of personal and professional attributes which assist transition from student to physiotherapist. Theme 2 Population, Society and Health focuses on issues related primarily to healthcare policy development and implementation. Theme 3 Fundamental Knowledge of Health Science provides the knowledge which underpins physiotherapy practice. Theme 4 Applied Practice develops clinical competencies integral to physiotherapy practice. Theme 5 Research focuses on the ability to locate and evaluate research as a foundation for evidence based practice.

Assessment: Assessment in PTY2031 will be both formative and summative. Formative assessment tasks include on-line learning tasks and peer reviewed exercise classes. Hurdle requirements include attendance at 80% of tutorials and practical sessions; attendance and participation in the Rural Health inter-professional attachment when scheduled and submission of a Year 2 Portfolio. Summative assessment tasks: Written Assignment 30%, Written Examination 35%, Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) 35%.
