Synopsis: The unit deals with moral and political aspects of law, including the differences between moral and legal obligation, the nature of legal rules and principles and the relation between law and morals. Particular attention will be paid to recent controversies. www.arts.monash.edu.au/phil/undergraduate/
Assessment: Two essays (2250 words each): 100% + Optional replacement of one essay by a 2 hour examination. 3 Hours class contact or equivalent per week
Contact Hours: 2 hour (1 x 2 hour seminar) per week
Prerequisites: First-year Philosophy followed by any second-year Philosophy unit or by two compulsory law units.
