Synopsis: Consolidates theoretical and practical skills acquired in the Master of Health Services Management by exploring in detail a complex problem within the student's workplace or within a health care setting. Placement in a health service exploring a particular issue or overseas placements require course coordinator's approval. The case study is not intended to be original research.
Objectives: On completion of this unit, students should be able to: 1. identify an issue or a problem of health service management importance; 2. critically review and evaluate the literature related to an important health service management issue in their workplace; 3. integrate theory, knowledge and practice in their examination and appraisal of an important health service management issue in their workplace; 4. demonstrate an ability to reflect on issues and alternative management actions; 5. describe and justify appropriate health services management action; 6. demonstrate skills in writing up an assessment of an important health service management issue in a professional report.
