Caulfield Second semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: An examination of the role of international institutions and organisations with emphasis on major global inter-governmental institutions in the Asia-Pacific. Topics include development, theories and legal status of international institutions; the United Nations and relevant related agencies IMF, World Bank and Asian Development Bank; international economic institutions in the Asia Pacific region including ASEAN, APEC; international non-government organisations; prospects for future developments; and proposals for reform of selected international institutions and organisations.
Assessment: Individual assignment (2500 words): 30% + Individual assignment (3500 words): 40% + Individual assignment (2500 words): 30%
Contact Hours: 3-hour class
Prerequisites: Students must have completed 24 points at 9000-level.
