Synopsis: The unit examines the ways in which the international community is tackling existing and future environmental problems, including ozone layer depletion, climate change, destruction of biodiversity, heritage conservation, and disposal of hazardous waste. Topics include the evolution, basic principles, and legal framework of international environmental harm; the Earth Summits; the future.
Assessment: Assignment 1 (3500 words): 40% + Individual Class presentation: 10% + Assignment 2 (5000 words): 50%
Contact Hours: 3-hour class
Prerequisites: Students must have completed 24 points at 9000-level.
