Synopsis: This unit will provide an introduction for students to the broad context in which international business operates, and will address the general theory and management issues related to doing business internationally. Topics include a brief history of management of international business; managing the environment and international relations; understanding of the nature of multinational, transnational and small businesses as multinational enterprises; comparisons of business systems in a variety of developing and developed countries; the management of ethical and social responsibility issues; and future challenges in managing international business.
Assessment: Written (2 assignments of 2000 words each): 50% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
Contact Hours: Three hours of class contact
