Clayton First semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: An introduction to the contemporary Korean language, with special emphasis on spoken language. Introduction to written Korean and the Korean alphabet.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will: 1. Be able to speak and comprehend enough to satisfy all survival needs, such as describing things, comparing, asking and talking about family, wishes and ability, requesting, agreeing and refusing, and asking and talking about past and future events. 2. Be able to read and write in defined contexts. 3. Have a basic knowledge of some aspects of Korean culture and society.
Assessment: Continuous assessment (oral and written class work, homework, tests): 60% + Examination (4 hours): 40%
Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x 1 hour lectures and 2 x 1 hour tutorials) per week
Prohibitions: Students enrolled in Arts courses are prohibited from taking this unit. In addition, students taking this unit may not also take KOR1010.
