Synopsis: This is the continuation of INM1030, and follows a similar pattern of language practice through practicals and a tutorial discussion. Translation skills are developed further and in the context of a paraprofessional service.
Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit students will be able to: 1. Develop a further understanding of the Indonesian language. 2. Expand their command of vocabulary, new and more complex syntax, and new oral conventions. 3. Put into practice the newly acquired knowledge to communicate in more complex social situations.
Assessment: Spoken presentation: 10 minutes 20% + Language project (800 words): 20% + Short tasks (600 words): 10% + Written Examination (2 hours): 30% + Spoken Exam: 20 minutes 20% Additional comment: All assessment is in Indonesian except for an Indonesian to English translation task on the written exam and a similar task in the short tasks.
Contact Hours: 4 hours (2 x lectures and 2 x tutorials) per week
Off-campus attendance requirements: 1 weekend workshop or equivalent hours with private tutor.
