Clayton First semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: Structure-processing property relationships for polymeric and composite materials. Processes for shaping and joining materials. Material and process selection as part of design. Effects of processing on properties and troubleshooting product failures. Design for optimising performance and minimising cost. Case studies will be used to illustrate examples of product and process development and design, to optimise ease of manufacture, and increase value.
Assessment: Individual assessment 20% + Assignments: 40% Examination: 40% (3 hours)
Contact Hours: 22 lectures and 24 hours practice classes and practical work
