Synopsis: This unit aims to build a general understanding of technologies for managing personal and organisational knowledge and the methods of developing knowledge management systems (KMS). The topics will cover information systems development evolution to knowledge management; knowledge management implementation life cycle, knowledge audit; technologies for developing a knowledge management system including intranets and portals; organisational and people issues in knowledge management systems projects; knowledge management system deployment and evaluation. The students will gain experience with a suite of knowledge management technology.
Assessment: Assignments (50%) + Formal supervised Assessment (50%)
Contact Hours: 3 hours per week
Prerequisites: IMS 9001, IMS 9003, or equivalent
