Synopsis: This unit provides the opportunity for high-achieving students to undertake an individual research project in Genetics with an academic supervisor. It includes a critical literature review, experimental design and data analysis, and seminar attendance. The student must maintain regular contact with supervisor(s) and subject coordinator.

Assessment: Three oral reports (preliminary, 10 minutes; progress, 10 minutes; final poster session): 20% + Written reports (preliminary, 1500 words, 10%; final, 8000 words, 45%): 55% + Supervisor's assessment of project planning, conduct and development: 25%

Contact Hours: Approximately 12 hours per week

Prerequisites: Students must have a distinction average across 24 points of second level units, including a minimum of 12 points from GEN2041, GEN2052, MOL2011 and MOL2022. Students must have approval of project and supervisor prior to enrolment.
