Synopsis: This unit examines UML and MDA in greater depth than the pre-requisite unit. The key disciplines of the Unified Process will be examined to set a context for analysis and design. Some common design patterns will be studied. The unit also examines the older structured-systems approach to software design. The unit prepares students to be able to design large scale systems, such as will be implemented in their final year project unit or after graduation.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 60% + Other assessment modes: 40%
