Synopsis: This unit deals with the technical and business (including project management) processes involved in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as a structure for provisioning an organisation with appropriate Business Information Systems. Understanding a business through its business processes will be central to the unit. With that understanding, the principles of IT Mangement can be understood as the mechanisms of IT governance that enable the CIO to meet corporate objectives in the various relevent time scales. Recent, well-accepted, developments in all aspects of Business Information Systems management will also be covered.

Assessment: Practical Assignments: 40%; Examination: 60%. A pass in both components is required in order to pass the unit.
