Synopsis: The candidate undertakes individual research within a specified academic discipline, with supervision provided by a specialist in the research field. Research design and outcomes are presented in a thesis written to the conventions of the research discipline (and within Faculty Guidelines), and in a research seminar.
Objectives: By completing this subject the candidate will: 1. Gain experience in conducting independent research. 2. Demonstrate a capacity to formulate a research question, design a research project, and collect, analyse and interpret data appropriate to addressing the research question. 3. Demonstrate a capacity to present research outcomes in a thesis appropriate to the relevant scientific discipline, and in a research seminar.
Assessment: Thesis (15000 words): 85% + Seminar (20 minutes): 15%
