Synopsis: Impact assessment concepts. Types of impact; social, environmental, economic, etc. Requirements for and design of assessment. Techniques and management of assessment procedures. Community participation techniques. Impact mitigation measures. Major project on application of impact assessment to an engineering problem. Emphasis on integration of environmental and development aspects.
Assessment: Examination: 50% + Assignment: 50%. Students must pass both examination and assignment components
