Synopsis: The unit involves a minimum of fifteen days practical professional activities and experiences. Topics include developing an inquiring mind, research awareness and evidence-based techniques for examining practices and student learning, collaborative consultation, and professionals as change agents in both inclusive and special education settings.

Objectives: Upon successful completion of this unit participants should have an understanding of the principles and techniques of evidence-informed approaches for students with special needs; and will have developed knowledge and skills appropriate for professional practice in collaboration with school communities and other professional practitioners.

Assessment: Report (3000 words) 40%; Professional Project Proposal including Class presentation (2000 words) 25%; and Practicum diary (500 words): 10%. The time involved in practicum placement activities have been taken into account in designing the other work to be assessed in this unit.
