Synopsis: Students will need to have completed Unit EDF5472 successfully to be eligible for this unit. Students will undertake advanced work in the teaching of Jewish Philosophy, the preparation for and presentation of VCE level work in Jewish Studies, the application of modern Learning Technologies to Jewish Education and the consolidation of issues in Curriculum Development which was begun in the first semester unit.
Objectives: Jewish Education is concerned with that part of the school curriculum that is involved with the study of the nature of Jewish culture, history and values; is concerned with the effective transmission of the full range of Jewish texts central to Jewish civilisation to ensure the highest degree of cultural literacy; will enable students to develop strong knowledge-based positive attitudes and values central to a mature understanding of Judaism in modern open society.
Assessment: A precondition for a pass in this method is a pass in Teaching Practice and an 80% attendance rate for all timetabled classes. Students must also have attained a satisfactory level of achievement for each of the following tasks: the development of a unit of work based on Foundational Texts in Jewish Literature-50%, the development of a unit of work in Jewish Studies using Learning Technology based information
