Synopsis: Module 1 - Roles and Responsibilities and Program Development, provides students with the knowledge relating to the legal requirements and responsibilities associated with their 'duty of care' as teachers including the identification of indicators of abuse and other situations requiring intervention. Module 2 provides the opportunity to be responsible for the planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of an integrated unit of work across a number of Key Learning Areas or a developmental sequence across a number of grade levels within a specialist area. The third module focuses on how to conduct a project within student's school experience. Fieldwork of up to 20 days.

Objectives: Upon successful completion of module one students should recognise their professional and legal responsibilities including statutory requirements relating to their 'duty of care' and children's health and safety understand the requirements for their own entry into the profession. Upon successful completion of module two, students should demonstrate their ability to plan, deliver, assess and evaluate a cohesive and sustained learning sequence; communicate the processes involved in developing and carrying out the activity; critically analyse approaches taken by student peers. Upon the completion of module three, students should be able to present a proposal for a project using action research methodology. This would include a literature search and planned procedures for implementation.

Assessment: Project proposal (1500 words) + Professional Portfolio Part 1 (1500 words) + Satisfactory completion of Practicum Program of up to 20 days + Pass grade only.
