Synopsis: Linear multivariable systems theory; Kalman's decomposition of the state-space. Optimal control of multivariable systems: linear quadratic regulator; algebraic Riccati equation; frequency-domain implications of optimality. Stability theory. Robust control of multivariable systems: H-infinity norm; representations of model uncertainty; linear fractional transformations; multivariable stability margin. Computer-aided control systems analysis and design.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
