Clayton First semester 2006 (Day)
Synopsis: Resting membrane potentials derived from first principles. Effects of fixed membrane charges. Action potentials. Hodgkin-Huxley equations. Propagation speed and recruitment order. Electrodes and amplifiers for recording from the body. Electro-cardiograms, electro-myograms, electroencephalograms and the signals they produce.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
Contact Hours: 26 lectures, 24 hours of practice classes and project work
Prerequisites: PHY2011 and ECE2601
