Synopsis: An intensive study of the possibilities of creating graphic works using a diverse range of found images and materials. Through a series of set projects, slide lectures and discussion, students will work towards an understanding of how these materials can be successfully combined to make aesthetically unified images.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.be able to articulate a concept through the juxtaposition and manipulation of found images and materials; 2.possess a good working knowledge of a variety and range of materials, processes and techniques; 3.have the ability to combine materials with discrimination, resourcefulness and imagination; 4.have the ability to complete a self-initiated collage/assemblage project; 5.have some understanding of the use of collage in twentieth century art.
