Leader:

Offered:
Caulfield Second semester 2006 (Day)

Synopsis: This unit introduces students to design for virtual architecture. It builds sequentially upon the skills and knowledge of 3D design by providing a focus upon CAD principles and their application. Students are introduced to the application of computing principles for space planning, facilities management, building performance analysis and operations research with an ability to link this design and drafting problems. Demonstrations and lectures are given on techniques of graphic communication and the capabilities of computer technical drawings for detailing the construction of interior architecture.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will 1.understand the principles and application of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drafting for interior architecture; 2.be able to apply computing principles for space planning, facilities management, building performance analysis and operations research with an ability to link this to design and drafting problems; 3.be able to generate graphic communications and computer technical drawings detailing the construction of interior architecture; 4.understand interactive visualisastion methods for the representation of interior architecture; 5.be able to analyse a range of different types of 'digital architecture' practice, and apply this knowledge to creative work; 6.understand and be able to apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study
