Synopsis: Local and Metropolitan Area Networks, fundamentals of computer data communications, LAN Transmission Media, Network Topology, Medium Access Control, ATM: Asynchronous Transfer Mode, the OSI Reference Model, LAN System Software, LAN Application Software, LAN Installation, LAN Administration, LAN Management (Planning, Control, Configuration, Performance, Security, Accounting). Structure, management and administration of a Novell network. (subject to approval)
Assessment: Assignments: 25% + Examination (2 hours): 75% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the unit
Contact Hours: One x 2hour lecture/week, one x 1hour laboratory/week
Prerequisites: Entry to the Master of Business Systems or equivalent Masters program
