Synopsis: An introduction to legal studies and to the legal system of Australia with special emphasis on commercial aspects. The laws of negligence as it affects business and the professional is introduced, and aspects of the law of contract, consumer law, agency, partnership, trusts and an introduction to companies of relevance to commerce.
Assessment: Assignment (2000 words): 25% + Examination (open-book 3 hours): 75%
Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week
